Apple Cider Vinegar

Hey Dolls,
Sorry I’ve been lacking on the health and beauty stuff lately, but this should make up for it. I was surfing the internet the other day and I came across a lady’s blog, I don’t remember which one, and she said that she uses Apple Cider Vinegar to lighten up dark spots on her face. AVC rinses are also a great natural scalp cleanser. All of this got me to thinking, what else can I use it for? So of course I did some research and here’s what I found.

My Top Ten
1. Helps fight dandruff, and clarifies the hair. Dilute ½ cup vinegar with 2 cups of warm water and pour onto hair after shampooing.

2. Helps prevent yeast infections. 1 TBLS of ACV and 1 Quart of warm water

3. Cure the hiccups, so annoying, 1 TBLS of AVC

4. Takes grease off of suede.

5. Brightens clothes and helps prevent them from attracting lint. Add ½ cup
to the rinse cycle

6. Mixing 2 TSP AVC with a glass of cold water daily helps aid in weightloss b/c it can help prevent fat from accumulating in the body

7. Mixing 2 TSP of AVC and water after each meal can help prevent acid reflux

8. Drink some apple cider vinegar in water, with honey added. This concoction can help calm a queasy stomach.(hangover cure)

9. Combine 1 cup AVC to 2 gallons warm water. Soak feet for 45 minutes then pumice to remove dry skin. Instantly soft feet

10. To clear up respiratory congestion, inhale a vapor mist from steaming pot containing water and several spoonfuls of vinegar.

Also remember Apple Cider Vinegar is a brownish color and it is supposed to have chunks floating in it. Always be sure to buy the all natural AVC, which is basically just fermented apple juice that turned into cider, that was fermented again and now its vinegar. Hope this helps

Our Love Story pt 4

I was the next last to arrive at Star’s house that night(only Abby and her Friend Birch were missing), and ironically, the only one ready. When I first got there I felt a little out of place, being that I had only met these boy’s once before and how much did I really know about these guys anyway? My mom was right, I never think before I get myself into these situations. I just knew I was destined to be one of the victims on an upcoming episode of America’s Most Wanted. Since Star and Chrysta were still trying to decide what to wear, we were all held up in her room going through her closet, while the boys sat in the living room taking pictures and drinking Jungle Juice.

Once Star got dressed I had no choice but to go join the rest of the party. Five boys ended up coming in the end, they were Caleb, Corey, Brennen, Darrell, Dennis and Romey. I made Star get my first cup of Jungle juice, and after that it was all downhill.

Abby arrived about 3 cups in, and I somehow found myself in a drinking competition with Romey. He thought he could out drink me, don’t he know who I am? Anyway, once the party was all there, the drinks started to flow, and everyone started to loosen up. After a lot more drinks the 11 of us split up into 3 cars and headed down the hill to the dance. I rode in a car with Birch and Abby and Darrell and I can remember if we had Dennis with us or not, but that could be because of all the bottom shelf Vodka I had already consumed.

The dance itself was much like any high school homecoming the only difference was this one served alcohol, not to mention almost everyone in attendance, had a bottle of something or another hidden in their purses or pockets. Overall it was a great time. We didn’t see much of the boys until the end. As soon as we all got in they went their own separate way, RUDE I know, but I didn’t care I was drunk and they didn’t come to see me so I still had a blast, dancing and drinking out of random people’s liquor bottles. Towards the end of the night however we all slowly started to come back as one big group, and that’s when I felt someone grab my arm…

Dry Scalp Pre-Poo

Hey Dolls,
Sorry it's been so long, but I'm back with my dry scalp pre-poo.If you hadn't already guessed it, you can not have long heathly hair, without first having a healthy scalp. So once you've got your regiment, and your protective style, and you understand balance, the next thing you have to do is get your scalp in fighting condition. I am gooing to explore this topic over the next week or two, because I too have a dry itchy scalp, and I am interested in learning more ways to combat the problem. my dry scalp pre-poo is one major weapon in my battle against dry scalp.

I got the inspiration for this from Tracyee from KISS. I was using her pre-poo, but it didn't quite work for me as well as had hoped it would so I tweeked it alittle bit, and came up with a great combination of conditioner and essential oils that have really transformed my scalp. I relaxed last Sunday, so now my scalp is screaming for some lovin' so here's what I did...

oh and here's Tracyee's orignal recipe, if your scalp is dry, but not as bad as mine (it's the second post on the page so you have to scroll to the bottom)...

Happy Saturday!

Hey Dolls,
Sorry for the lack of posts yesterday, Caleb is here lol. He's in the shower right now so I am sneaking a quick post. Everything is going well. I never realize just how much i miss him until he comes back. Today we are going apartment hunting and then to the batting cages, and tonight i'm making my famous tacos.

Other than that all is well. My new wig came so i'll do a video on that, and also I bought a pair of shoes that i wanna show you, so be watching for that. My hair is doing great, it has grow so much since i got it cute in July, and I am finally able to experiment with some low manipulation styles. Caleb hates my wigs, so this weekend I am wearing my real hair, and although its hard not to reach for my flatiron, i think i am doing a great job. I did a rollerset and a braidout and I think I might use my heat pass for tomorrow only because we are going to Bennihana's for his birthday. I might just put on a wig though and he will have to deal, I will take some pics of whatever I do

Amber Rose you are NOT!!!

But still a nice try..

Look what I found On Mediatakeout....

can't wait to see this video...

Spring RTW DSquared2

The first designer spotlight will of course be my all time favorite Dsquared2. Love them, so I figure why not start there. I think I am going to do 10 in all so if there is a designer in particular you would like to see, let me know.

Anyway the Spring Dsquared2 show was all about the great outdoors, complete with trucker hats(hope they do not come back) 40’s( yes that’s right 40 ounces of beer ) and Band-aids. Although some of their concepts can be very literal, its always fun to watch what they send down the runway, and its always a hit, to me at least. I think Dsquared2 are a very young and hip line. It is not stuff your mom would wear, but for me, a 22 year old girl who loves to take fashion risks, it is a must. Now of course as with most shows, they are just that, a SHOW, so you have to not so much focus on the outfit as much as the individual pieces, here are some of my favs.

We already know about my love affair with brown leather, but also these flannel shirts are so popular right now, i'm sure we all have one or two in our closet at this very moment.

love this silver dress. perfect "going out" dress. its fun and its flashy

Chanel Iman with a 40, need i go on?

This is why I think their clothes are wearable, but in a good way. Its a plain look, but it has that something special that Dean and Dan can give..

last but not least, a dress.

There were a lot of fun things i wanted to post, but I didn't want it to get too pic heavy. If you wanna see more go over to style.com and check out the rest of the show!

Our Love Story pt 3

After that first night in Muskieland things went back to normal. The only real difference was I now could put faces to the names Star and Chrysta talked about. I went back to my crazy work load and thought nothing more about the boy whose name I never caught. The only thing I was looking forward to was the Homecoming dance at West Lib. Living in Wheeling you have to take what you can get, and I get excited about any excuse to dress up and drink a little jungle juice.

What followed was the slowest work week of my entire life. It seemed like Saturday would never come, so when it finally did it didn’t even matter that I couldn’t go to the game because I of course had to work. I don’t even like football anyway so all that matter was I got off early and I was going to get my hair done. Plus Star was updating me through text messages with all the details of the day so it was like I was there anyway.

The plan was that after the game Star, Chrysta and Nika were going to pick up a few of the Muskie boys, because they were going to come to homecoming too. I of course would be getting my hair done so I was going to meet them at Stars house once I was done. Chrysta’s sister Abby and her friend Birch were coming too, so it would be a full house all of us packed into Star’s tiny apartment, but the more the merrier.
Once my hair is finally done, i get the text saying they all made it back, after some drama with Chrysta’s front tire. Everyone is safe and sound and I should come as soon as I can. Oh and there are a few more boys that was originally planned, but the more the merrier. I rush to get dressed and I kiss my sisters goodnight, tell my mom I will be home in the AM and head up the hill to Star’s house. Little did I know, this night would be one to change my life forever….

Hair Board Decoder Ring

Now that you are on your way with your healthy hair journey, you may still be a little confused about the lingo you hear on these hair boards. I know when I first started, I hate to ask all the wonderful ladies that were already helping my so much to explain their explanations lol. So this is a basic glossary for many terms that are often thrown around, but you may not fully understand. They are also terms you will hear a lot on this blog. I will update this post as I think of new ones, so if there is ever something you don’t understand refer back to this post. If it’s not on here feel free to email me and I will gladly add it!(look under the lable decoder)

Co-Wash--- To wash hair with conditioner. This allows you to cleanse the hair without stripping it of moisture, as shampooing tends to do. Co-washing is also a great way to add moisture to your hair, and it is a great way to help stretch those relaxers.

Pre-Poo--- any thing you do to pre prepare your hair for shampooing. This can be a hot oil treatment, a protein treatment, honey, or conditioner. It is the first step for many on wash day, so that their hair is not so completely dried out in the shampooing process. I like to Pre Poo with VO5 Conditioner and essential oils. It not only moisturizes my hair, but it also treats my dry itchy scalp.

Deep Conditioning—Is simply a treatment that is used to help restore balance to the hair. There are several different types of deep conditioners available, but they are thicker than regular conditioners and should be used atleast once a week. I like to deep condition for 30 with heat or atleast an hour without heat, and sometimes over night. You can also deep condition on dry hair before your wash, which serves as a pre-poo.

Baggy- this is a way to replenish moisture to the hair. There are different ways to baggy, but the basics are moisturize, seal, and apply a sandwich bag to the ends, or a plastic cap to the entire head, which ever you prefer. I don’t like to baggy for more than an hour, because it leaves my hair a little too moisturized and mushy feeling, but through trial and error you can find what works best for you.

Moisturize and seal--- This is the process you should use to add moisture to your hair. Choose water based moisturizer, and apply throughout your hair, focusing on the ends. Then choose carrier oil and apply on top of the moisturizer, once again focusing on your ends. Since black hair is so naturally porous simply adding moisture alone will not be enough. We must seal it in with an oils because oil molecules are larger than water molecules so moisture cannot escape.(yes it is a science to it). Oil alone CANNOT penetrate the hair shaft therefore they are not moisturizing. You’ll need both in order to keep hair healthy.(coconut oil is the only oil know to penetrate the hair, but I would still recommend using a water based moisturizer for maximum moisture)

Stretching--- waiting at least 8 weeks before re relaxing hair. Stretching really is an art form because managing the two hair textures can be a nightmare. It is important to stretch your relaxers to avoid over processing the previously relaxed hair. Stretching also helps retain length.

Protective styles—These are styles that keep ends up of your clothes and protected from the elements. The ends are the oldest and weakest part of your hair so they must be cared for as such. Protective styles include, buns wigs, sew-in weaves and braids. See my blog on protective styles for great tips.
low manipulation styles(braid outs. Roller sets, bantu knots oh my)—These are styles that do not require heat. They are a fun way to enjoy the length and health of your hair without experiencing any set backs from heat styling. Some styles are easier to achieve than others, but as with everything practice makes perfect. Check blogs and youtube for some great tutorials.

Shedding/breakage.- understanding the difference between shedding and breakage is key to understanding what your hair needs. On average a person sheds between 50-100 hairs a day. Shed hair will have a root attached to the end. (A white bulb) Hair that is broken will be shorter ans not have the white bulb. I don't know if its possible to be relaxed and have no breakage, but it should be minimal. if there is a lot of breakage then you have to determine what is causing the breakage.(see my posts on moisture/protein balance)

Direct/indirect heat—direct heat comes from curling irons, flat irons and blow dryers. This is extremely damaging to your hair and when applying direct heat you should always used a heat protectant, and it should never be used on the highest setting. Most importantly you should use direct heat in moderation. Indirect heat would be sitting under a hooded dryer or bonnet. It is often used to deep condition or when roller setting.

MN—Miconazole nitrate, a popular growth aid, it is also the active ingredient in many topical antifungal creams. There are several others, however I chose to use Mn because it is cheap and I can pick it up at most drug stores.

Relax, textlax, natural--- relaxed hair is fully processed chemically treated hair(bone straight). Texlaxed hair is only partially processed and still retains some of the natural curl pattern. Many women chose to texlax because it gives the hair a fuller more natural look, but still has the conveniences of having relaxed hair. Natural is just that natural, untreated hair.

Caleb's Coming YAY!!!

"Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Remember, O LORD, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you are good, O LORD."
Psalm 25:4-7

Sorry I didn't post anything yesterday. I had one of those everything that can go wrong will type of days. It could have been worse atleast I am still breathing so I thank God for that. My mom told me that one of my cousins and her son died in a fire last night, so please keep my family in your prayers. Also let it serve as a reminder, that life is way to short to let little things get you. Never keep anything bottled up, and learn to let go of things that don't matter. Live each day as if it's your last.

Now to move on to something a little less sad, Caleb is coming to visit for the first time since I moved. He will be here Thursday night, so I am so pumped to get to spend the few days with him that I have. Although he gets on my nerves most of the time,I love him so much. Other than that I've just been working and writing. I've got some fun blogs planned for next week, and I am also going to relax tonight so I'll have an update on that as well.

Peace

Ramblings of a Mad Black Woman

Hey dolls, I just want to vent a little bit today so I apologize in advance. So last night I received a random text message from a past random in my life. We are still friends I guess, we never really ended on a bad note but sometimes I feel like JUST LEAVE ME ALONE. Like I don’t know if that’s mean or not, but I am happy and in love, and I don’t really see the point in being friends with a guy I use to hook up with. I know lot of people do it, but it’s not for me. I don’t really care what you’ve been up to. I don’t care to reminisce about the good times, I’m over it. I moved on, closed the book and picked up a new one. I don’t regret the past or anything; I just don’t care to relive it every few months when you get bored. Half the time I don’t even respond and the other half the time I just go through the “what’s new with me” motions just to get it over with. Whatever, I got through it this month so I should be good until Christmas. Do you ladies ever feel like that, or am I a party of one. I probably bring a lot of it on myself because I never just say; I don’t want to talk to you, but how do you say that without being a bitch?

Anyways on to my next complaint, my wig STILL hasn’t come. Today marks day 14 since I ordered it. Well it could still come today since it is so early, but what in the year 2009 takes 2 weeks to process and ship? NOTHING! Its not on back order, it’s not Christmas, it’s just not here! They sure took my money on time without no type of problem, but when it comes to shipping my order it’s a whole other issue. I even called the customer service number, and the lady said it was sent out Monday. So its Friday and where is my package? Did you send it via Pony Express? It’s coming from Illinois, not China, not India or Vietnam what is the problem? NEVER ORDERING FROM WWW.CLAIRHAIR.COM AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peace

p.s. sorry it's just one of those days already. I hope yours is better. TGIF

Swag Jack'n, NIcki Manaj, pt 3

Ok so the last Nicki Manaj look is the club look. Please disregard the other BB(Bad Bitch) as I will demonstrate how to Jack her swag soon!

So since this is a club look its cool to go a little crazy. I found both the tops on greatglam.com, Now the black one has a little bra thing of it's own attached, cut it off. ok so put the pink under the black and your good. Then next i got the skinny's at Charlotte Russe. They are a stretch material, whichI like better than those shinny leggins. Don't get me wrong, i own a pair, but since in our look the belly is out, i feel like actual jeans would look better, but do you. I also got the shades from Charlotte, and the shoes are from amiclubwear.com. They have great shoes for cheap, but as far as the quality you get what you pay for. I got my birthday shoes from them and they broke, then i got another pair that are still going strong. I do suggest getting any shoes with danglys or rhinestones cuz your askin' for trouble.
and finally to finish the look I found this AMAZING back belly chain at bodycandy.com. It's like butt crack jewelry, and with a belly baring shirt and stretch skinny's your butt crack is gonna show, so you might as well accessoize! Here's the finished look.

Sex Therapy... Nuff Said

enjoy it while it last!

Lady Gaga and Beyonce...

That right, Gaga is going to be in the new Video Phone video... can't freakin wait to see it! Now if only we can get Brittney in there somewhere, a girl can dream right

Get the Look, NIcki Manaj, pt 2

This next look is for date night. I found 2 great pics of Nicki and i couldn't decided which one to use so this is kind of a mash up.

Nicki has this raw sex appeal, like I know I look good. I love that about her. It's exactly the attiude you want to have when you are out with your man. Sexy confident, and fierce. I got most of this otfit from Wet Seal. The shoes are a splurge from karmaloop, but I will give a wet seal shoe alternative if you dont want to pay 100, for them.

Oh and here is a great shoe from Wet Seal..

Get the Look, NIcki Manaj, pt 1

I am going to do this week’s fashion post slightly different. I was reading some other blogs, and a lot of them have pictures of their fashion inspirations, but who has millions to blow, and the luxury of getting to go out every night? So I had a epiphany, why don’t I recreate some more wearable versions of our favorite fashionistas. So up first Onika Maraj, better know to the world as Nicki Manaj. Yes I too am on the Young Money bandwagon, and I don’t know what it is but everything about this chick screams BAD!!

Look One, Everyday Chill.

This is a look that is good for going shopping or out to lunch, or even to class. Its cool and fun and very Nicki. Now pink skinnys aren't MY thing, but here are some great ones from Forever 21, and they are only 13.50. Forever 21 also has a great selection of graphic tees. if your gonna do a hot pink skinny, please for all that is good and holy, DO NOT GO OVER BOARD WITH THE TOP! You can turn something retro into full on 80's and not in a good way. Also keep it light with the accessories. Once again from Forever 21. I always try to order from the same place, because One everything comes at the same time, and 2 your not paying for a million things to be shipped.

Neutrogena Body Lotion

As you Dolls know I was having a little problem with the water here in the DMV. After every shower my skin would be so super dry and no amount of lotion would cure it. My skin would just feel coated and gross. Finally I couldn’t take it anymore, so I went out and got the Dove Deep Moisture body wash and it has been amazing, but it didn’t smell like anything, which SUCKS. So to make up for my lost scent I went out and got the lotion that goes with my old body wash.

Here’s what the bottle says.

Feel the difference. The sheer part lotion, part sesame oil of Neutrogena Body lotion silkens your skin while it moisturizes. It’s so sheer that it absorbs instantly to allow your skin to breathe. The whisper light lotion glides on easily and leaves skin soft and silky.

-Absorbs instantly
-Softens and silkens skin
-Won’t clog pores

Heres the real Dookie:

I love this lotion. I was a little skeptical at first because I have never had a good experience with sheer lotions before. I was always left with that dry and ashy feeling. You know what I mean, it was like you put it on, but your skin would feel like you didn’t do anything. I am glad that I was so seduced by the smell in the store that I didn’t even bother to read the back until I got home because I might not have gotten it. So it really goes to show you that you can’t judge one product because of another.

This lotion does exactly what it says it does. It goes in so light and leaves my skin feeling great. The lotion I was using before, Vasaline intensive Care was just so heavy and it never actually moisturized my skin it just sat on top of my skin, making me feel like I needed to take another shower. Not this stuff it’s perfect, especially since my body wash is already sooooooo moisturizing, I really didn’t need that thick heavy lotion.

This is defiantly a keep, the only down side is that it’s such a small bottle compared to most lotions. Its 8.5 ounces and if your like me and you take a shower or two a day then you can use it up rather quickly, but i'm sure I will be able to find a bigger bottle on the internet somewhere.

Why Protein is important

We already know about moisture and why it is important to our hair, but now it’s time to learn why protein is so important. Hair is made up of about 70% of keratin. This means that every time we relax color or even curl our hair we are damaging the natural proteins that exist in our hair. Without protein our hair would be weak and mushy and very very damaged. That is why it is so important for us to put the proteins back in. We can get some of what we need from food, but we still need a boost from products such as shampoos and conditioners, and moisturizers.

Although our hair needs protein, too much can cause dry brittle and broken hair. Protein overload occurs when there is not enough moisture present. Protein and moisture work together to keep hair healthy, and when there is too much protein present your hair will definitely let you know. The hair will become dry and brittle and break with little to no force at all. Protein overload is reversible, but unlike moisture over load it is not a one or two step process, and even once you do restore balance the damage is already done. When using protein there are a few simple rules to live by:

1. Always start with a light protein and work your way up to heavier ones. You never know how your hair will react in the beginning so take baby steps and you’ll be fine. (HERE’s a list of protein conditioners and their strength)

2. Always follow a mild to heavy protein with a moisturizing deep conditioner. No Excuses

3. Read the directions on the bottle, some may say safe to use everyday , while others may say only use once a week, and still others can say use until you see results then use on an as needed basis.

4. Alternate, moisture with protein. If you have a great light protein that you love, that’s fine use it, but don’t neglect your moisture. Maybe use a protein conditioner with a moisturizing leave-in. Just be careful not to use protein on top of protein. (HERE’s the list again)

5. If you are not sure if it’s a protein or moisturizer read the bottle, if it has works like strengthening or reconstructing or keratin, then you know it’s a protein. Even though it may be light, it’s still got some protein to it, and you should be aware of that fact before adding it to your regiment. Make adjustments if needed and you’ll stay balanced.

I don’t want to scare you away from protein, because you do need it, just as much as you need moisture, but I want you to be careful when adding it into your regiment, not to overdo it. Balance is the key. Stay balanced!

So much love

What's New with ME!

Hey Dolls,
I started at Charlotte Monday, and so far so good. The only really bad thing I have to say about it is they didn’t really train me. It was more like, ‘Your at the fitting room today’ and I was like ‘then what?’ Thankfully it was a slow day so I was able to catch on without feeling too much anxiety.
I LOVE LOVE the discount, and if you watched my haul video than you know how much I love it lol. I also think I might have made a new friend in the DMV, the only bad thing is I don’t know her name. She works at Charlotte, but she is transferring to another store so Tuesday was her last day. We exchanged numbers at the end of the night, and I didn’t want to seem rude and ask what her name was so I just put it in my phone as Girl From Charlotte. My hope is that she is still on our schedule then I can look tomorrow when I go to work. I know I should have just asked, but whats done is done.
Other than that no too much is going on. Caleb is coming for a visit on the 22nd and I am super pumped about that. We are going to go apartment hunting, and I am going to show him around his soon to be new town. I miss him so much I am like always counting down the days. It’s 10 if you were wondering.

Happy Sunday

"But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened." 1 Peter 3:14

Keep standing up for what you believe in, and God will keep blessing you. Do not fear things that you can not control because you are in God's hands. You are blessed. Let them do them and you keep doing you.

Party and Bullshit

Heard this on Perez and I loved it, thought i'd share :}

Introduction to Our Love Story

Hey Dolls, as you may know I am currently in a long distance relationship. I started this story a while back on my myspace blog, and I actua;;y forgot all about it unitl one of my friends asked me when the next installment would be. I figured I would bring it back on here for everyone to enjoy. Here is parts 1&2 and stay tuned for part 3!

PART ONE

FAB 4

Life is a funny thing. It always seems to pull you in a direction that you never expect to go. Take me for example. I never in a million years dreamed I would fall in love., and more than that I never dreamed it would have happened to me so early in life. I have always considered myself sort of a lone wolf. I have friends and a really close family, but I’ve always played my cards close to me chest. I have always had issue trusting people and although it sounds cliché I think it all stems from my issues with my father. I know a young black female with daddy issues real, how original. I really honestly think that kind of shit affects people, it’s just that some of us are better at hiding it than most people are. I have gradually become and expert at hiding my emotions. I never let anyone see all of me, just the bits and pieces I was comfortable sharing. Then something, or rather someone amazing happened.
I say that’s its fate, the way we met. I was sitting on Star’s couch listening to her and Chrysta talking about these random boys they had met on FACEBOOK. They were going through each one’s perspective page critiquing pictures and analyzing comments. Then out of nowhere Chrysta had the brilliant idea to make a spontaneous visit. Well of course I wasn’t gonna go. Hell no, I am was not gonna go and be the big fat 5th wheel. No NO NO!
Ten minutes later I’m sitting in the backseat of a blue Colbolt asking myself how I let these bitches talk me into this shit. I didn’t know these people from anywhere. What is they were crazy. I tried to rationalize, well we are going to on campus housing so they can’t be too bad. Plus they have been here before, no one was rapped yet. I needed to let go and enjoy life for once right. Hey you never know, you might like it…

PART TWO

107 BOYS

107 was the name of the house that sin built. It was a club disguised as campus housing, and the club owners/ residents, as fate would have it, were 6 members of the Muskingum Varsity Football team. Corey, Brennen, TJ, David, Josh and Martin lived, worked and played at 107.

Now on this night, my first night 107 was relatively calm. There were about 20 people there, mostly other guys from the team, and they were all just sitting around talking and laughing. Once we got there I was introduced to Corey and Brennan, Nika and Star respectively. They were the ones we were there to see, so I really didn’t pay much attention to the other hands I shook right off. Actually we only spent a few minutes downstairs before we went up to hang out in Brennen’s room.

Once we actually go in Brennen’s room I instantly felt much more at ease. The only people in there were Star, Brennen, Chrysta, Corey, Me and this kid Star and Chrysta nicknamed Nosey, because he stayed in everyone’s business. Nosey and I sat on the desk, Chrysta and Corey on the window seal and Star and Brennen on the bed. We just sat around and talked and watched videos on You Tube. I had a genuinely good time, getting to know these new people and I was glad that I came. There was something about Nosey that made me feel like I could tell him anything, and it was crazy because I don’t normally open up to anyone, even after knowing them for years.

We sat and laughed and whispered about everyone in the house and it was great, that is until other people started migrating into the room. Then someone had the brilliant idea to start taking picture. Fucking Facebook!!! So eventually all the boy left Brennen’s room for group pictures while me Star and Chrysta made fun of them.

Once the photo shoot was over everything seemed to clam down a bit. Most of the other boys left and we found ourselves in Corey’s room with a random assortment of boy, all but the one I was looking for. He was in the other room talking on the phone, presumably with his girlfriend. I definitely read that one all wrong…

Obama Wins Peace Prize

President Obama was named the 2009 recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Although a lot of people were shocked that he won it so soon in his term, I think it is a well deserved award. True he hasn’t had time to accomplish much in his presidency, but the face that he is pushing for reforms across the board speaks volumes for his potential in the years to come. Obama is a inspiration to all, and I think that it is about time we give credit where credit is due.Click Here to read the entire Article

Good Hair...I Know Enough Already, But

Unless you have been living under a rock for that past few weeks you already know all about Chris Rocks new movie Good Hair. I didn’t plan to do a post on it in the beginning because I’m sure you’re sick of hearing about it by now. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s going to be a great movie. I am hoping it will stop all the annoying questions about my hair, which I HATE times infinity. Anyway I didn’t plan to do a post because I figure you guys are as sick of hearing about the movies as I am, but then I realized one more won’t hurt, Anyway since I don’t plan on actually going to see the movie I figure I would write about what good hair means to me. (the only reason I am not going is because, that $9 can go into my gas tank, I will however rent it when it comes out)

For years little black girls have always been in search of good hair. Every little black girl I know, and I know a lot, has at one point or another has mentioned something about hair. It is sad to say that it has taken me 22 years to realize that there can be many different types of “good hair.” Good hair can be relaxed or natural, curly or straight, long or short. Good hair is healthy hair. Good hair is thick and moisturized and strong. Good hair can be worn in a bun, in braids, flat ironed, or under a wig. Good hair is however you wish to rock it. If you have locks or a TWA, as long as you are taking care of your hair then it’s all good.
If you do want to go see the movie it hits theaters tomorrow.

Peace
So much Love

p.s. sorry I know the last thing you needed was another Good Hair post.
