Bantu Knots, trail run..

I have been in a protective styling rut as of late so I have been trying to shake things up a bit by doing more low manipulation styles. Before, I would just throw on a wig and I would be cute and protected, but now that my hair is starting to get to a lenght where I can actually do braidouts and twist outs etc and actually like the results. I have mastered the braidout, now my next conquest is the bantu knoutout. This is my first real attempt at knots. I did 8 small knots and here's what I got.

I like the results, but I think next time I am going to try to do about 4 big knots. This looks a lot like my braidout, except the curl pattern is a bit differnet, but to the average eye(Caleb) it looks just the same. Just to give myself a little more variety with my styles.

Day Trip to DC

Yesterday Caleb and I took the train into DC. He's never been so we went the tourist route and walked around the national mall seeing the sights. I did a braidout, and it lasted suprisingly well considering how hot it was. Here's a few pics...

I am really loving the 8 braid braidout. It's so stylish and so easy to do. I just moisturized and sealed. Then I applied some of mt got2be texturizer to each section before I braided, then I put a foam roller on the ends and went to sleep. The next day I put a tiny bit of coconut oil on my fingers and un bradied the braids. I added a flower accent and I was done... Its my new weekend look and it doesn't even matter that I have hella new growth because its such a curly look anyway.

Box Braids!!!

Hey Dolls!
Today is Friday which means WASH DAY!!!! I realized that I don't have an in depth post on my wash day routine so I figured why not add it to this post.

Here's what I used:

This week m Pre-poo was my DC. I know it's confusing, but a pre poo is actually anything you do to prepare your hair for your wash.
- I DC'd with my Sallay's GVP Conditioning Balm overnight
- I washed with my Giavonni Smooth as Silk Shampoo
- Quick Conditioned with the Smooth as Silk Conditioner

After my wash I sperated my hair into 4 sections:

then detangeled with:

(the Spray bottle has my Silken Child Detangler because i hate the pump on the original bottle)You dont have to use what I used. any leave in you have will do as long as it has good slip

For Each Section
- I sprayed the Aphogee(use up my stash)
- applied my LTR
- sprayed the Silken Child
- then used my wide tooth comb to detangle

Then to the ends of my hair I used:

-ors Hair Lotion
- coconut oil

NOW on to the braids.

Here's what you'll need:

- Duck bill Clips
- Rat Tail comb to part sections
- Rollers for the ends of braids

I worked in the same 4 sections from before

half way done:

done!!

the roots!!

I hope I can make these braids last for 2 weeks, but I will be happy with a just one. Oh and I am only gonna leave the rollers in for about an hour so just to keep the braids from unraveling. Then Volia! The perfect under wig style for those who can't cornrow like me!

Impromtu Braid Out

As you can see I took my box braids out this morning and I am rocking this braid out for today. The only reason I took my braids out is because it's wash day tomorrow and I plan to DC over night tonight or else I would still be wearing them proudly. I think this is Just what I need to take me from NL to SL in time for my 1 year hair anni. It makes stretching a whole hell of a lot easier and it also lets me keep my scalp and hair moisturized without much manipulation to my strands. Oh by the way I will be offically 11 weeks post tmrw and atleast 11 more weeks to go. Maybe longer, maybe forever....
