Dry Skin Quick FIx..

I found this little beauty on a recent excavation to Wal-Mart. It was my shopping day(i'm such a house wife) and I had to restock a few personal items as well. As I'm sure you all know by now, I have a really REALLY dry skin so lotion is an absolute MUST for me and being that it is smack dead in the middle of winter and my Jergens has not been doing it's job as of late.

So as I was pursing the health and beauty section I figured I would look for a new lotion to help get me thru till spring. Mind you I have tried just about every lotion, ointment, cream and salve I could get my hands on and nothing has really worked. So I took my time and read over each bottle carefully so that I wouldn't make the wrong choice. Thats when I saw the VASELINE Brand Oil/Gel. I figured I would give it a try until I noticed the baby oil GEl was the same size but it was 2 bucks cheaper lol. The frugalista in me couldn't resist the swap, But once I got it home I remembered that I tried the baby oil gel before, and it only left my skin feeling greasy and coated.

As careful as I was in the store I saw the chance to save a few bucks and ended up capping out, but since I bought it I thought hell might as well give it one more try. Thats when I did something I should have done a long time ago... I READ THE DIRECTIONS lol.
This Stuff IS amazing, you just have to use it right!

What they say..
Step out of the shower or bath, then apply on wet skin to lock in moisture and leave skin feeling soft and smooth. Pat dry with towel.

They are not kidding when they say leaves skin feeling soft and smooth. I use this every night when I get out of the shower, and I haven't needed lotion since. In fact the only time I put lotion on is when I use scented lotion to help layer whichever perfume i'm wearing that day.

The only thing I would say is a little goes a long way. If you use to much I will leave a residue on your skin, and for about 3 bucks a pop you can't beat it with a stick. Definitely a staple in my skin care arsenal from here on out. Next time I think I'm going to try the lavender scent..
Hope This Helps

Home Made Coffee Scrub...

Hey dolls!
Just wanted to share this amazing homemade exfoliator with you all. I have been obessesd with Lush Cosmetics. I have probably watched every youtube video about Lush ever posted, and I have been wanting to splurge on some stuff. If your not familar with Lush click HERE to check out their website.

Anyway Lush is great and all, but its kind of overpriced for everday use. I probably wont actully buy any until my birthday because I always feel like its a waste of shipping to only order one or two things, and the closest lush store(yes i looked it up) is about a 45 minute drive from my house, so once again if I made the trip I would definitely want to spend more than I should.

Anyway Lush is so popular, and so expensive because they make great beauty products with all natural ingredients. So I decided to search youtube to see if i could find a recipe for a natural weekly body and face scrub and here's what I found.

*disclaimer*
I have tried this a few times now and I really love it, but of course if you use this or any other homemade treatments always ALWAYS do a test patch to see how your skin will react..

you'll need coffee, coco powder, and EVOO

I think this is a tablespoon , and it's what i use to make my coffe with every morning.
I think you can use coffee grounds as well, but we have this can that no one uses so I figure its a great way to get rid of it. Once its gone i will switch to gounds because its more economical!

next i add the coco powder, any brand will do, I use the same spoon!

the mix is 2 parts coffee 1 part coco

add in a little evoo at a time until you get it to the consistancy you want it. I like mine completely saturated, but not runny(my evoo is in a color applicator bottle because its the same stuff i use for my hair. you dont have to put it in one though)

i put a towel over the sink because it gets a little messy

GENTLY apply it all over your face and lips, messaging it into the skin in circular motions. becareful not to scrub too hard. When I'm done I jump in the shower with the remainder of the mixture and scrub my enitre body.

It leaves my skin soft and silky feeling. I use this as a weekly treatment, and with the left overs i will do a mid week lip scrub just to keep my lips nice and soft. I also want to try this mixture on my feet for a nice at home pedicure...

Neutrogena Body Lotion

As you Dolls know I was having a little problem with the water here in the DMV. After every shower my skin would be so super dry and no amount of lotion would cure it. My skin would just feel coated and gross. Finally I couldn’t take it anymore, so I went out and got the Dove Deep Moisture body wash and it has been amazing, but it didn’t smell like anything, which SUCKS. So to make up for my lost scent I went out and got the lotion that goes with my old body wash.

Here’s what the bottle says.

Feel the difference. The sheer part lotion, part sesame oil of Neutrogena Body lotion silkens your skin while it moisturizes. It’s so sheer that it absorbs instantly to allow your skin to breathe. The whisper light lotion glides on easily and leaves skin soft and silky.

-Absorbs instantly
-Softens and silkens skin
-Won’t clog pores

Heres the real Dookie:

I love this lotion. I was a little skeptical at first because I have never had a good experience with sheer lotions before. I was always left with that dry and ashy feeling. You know what I mean, it was like you put it on, but your skin would feel like you didn’t do anything. I am glad that I was so seduced by the smell in the store that I didn’t even bother to read the back until I got home because I might not have gotten it. So it really goes to show you that you can’t judge one product because of another.

This lotion does exactly what it says it does. It goes in so light and leaves my skin feeling great. The lotion I was using before, Vasaline intensive Care was just so heavy and it never actually moisturized my skin it just sat on top of my skin, making me feel like I needed to take another shower. Not this stuff it’s perfect, especially since my body wash is already sooooooo moisturizing, I really didn’t need that thick heavy lotion.

This is defiantly a keep, the only down side is that it’s such a small bottle compared to most lotions. Its 8.5 ounces and if your like me and you take a shower or two a day then you can use it up rather quickly, but i'm sure I will be able to find a bigger bottle on the internet somewhere.

New Lotion and Other Skin Care Rambings

For those of you who watched my Skin Care Regiment Video, you will know that I was on the hunt for a new lotion. For those of you who haven’t, go back and watch it duh! Anyway, as I was saying in the video, since moving here the tap water hasn’t really agreed with my skin. To remedy this situation I went out and bought Dove Deep Moisturizing Body Wash.

I adore this stuff. It is the thickest creamiest wash I think I have ever used. It leaves my skin feeling so nourished its unreal. I noticed the difference after one use! The only problem I had with it was it has no scent. None! Its so boring it smells like soap, not in a good way, in a plain jane stupid way. Me personally, I like a good scent to my body wash. Not like a heavy perfumy smell, but a nice fresh scent never hurt anybody. My last body wash was Neutrogena Rainbath, and if you have ever smelled it than you’ll understand what I mean. I still love that stuff and I miss it deeply. I think that I will switch back once it starts to warm up again, because between the water and the cold weather, my skin needs all the help it can get. I figure skin care is like hair care, in the winter months i use thicker moisturizers and heavier oils to seal with so why not use a heavier body wash.

Anyway so let me get to the point. I usually spend the last 10/15 minutes of my lunch break trolling the beauty aisles at Target, and yesterday I came across this:

Now to recap. I love Rainbath, and I hate my current lotion. I wish my body wash had a nice scent to it sooooooooooooo why not try the Rainbath Lotion? I never knew they even made this stuff. I’ve seen the Rainbath, The Rainbath with aloe, the Rainbath with grapefruit, hell I’ve even seen the body oil, but NEVER the lotion. It was only $ 5.99 so I had to get it. It smells heavenly, and I am hoping it is just what the doctor ordered. I will do an official review on it once I’ve used it for a few weeks until then pray for me.

Peace

10 Uses for Witch Hazel

Witch Hazel is one of my favorite beauty secrets.(never knew it was a plant) If you watched my skin care video than you already know I swear by the stuff. I use it mostly at night because I am too lazy to actually wash my face , but it is so so so important to cleanse your face of all the make-up dirt and oil before you go to bed. Witch hazel works so well on my face, it got me to thinking, what else is it good for? So I hit the internet to find some other common uses for this miracle product. So here’s a list of a few of its uses:

1. A facial astringent. It helps shrink pores.
2. It’s an anti inflammatory, which means it helps reduce puffy eyes.
3. Helps soothe razor burn and sunburn
4. Helps with bug bites by soothing the itching, bleeding and ease the pain
5. Helps with varicose veins
6. Heals bruises
7. Soothes diaper rash
8. Treats dry skin, by locking in moisture
9. Reduces hemorrhoids
10. Helps soothe poison ivy

Those are just a few of the things witch hazel can do, but as with anything, do your own research to see if it is right for you.
